Trying to stay anonymous on the internet?

From time to time I put out PSA's for the general public. After engine giants (AOL, Microsoft, Yahoo, even Google, etc...)were forced to give the government search results and after the NSA wire tapping many people are looking for more security/privacy on the internet. The information provided below is an attempt to secure your anonymity on the internet it is not intended to violate any laws or regulations. The steps below have been tested many times but they may not ensure complete anonymity.

Most tracking methods on the internet involve following an IP address. So your and my goal is to grab an IP that is not associated with our computers, geographic location, etc...

There are several different methods to doing this but we will only cover two of them.

Step One: Use Fire Fox

Step Two A: Setup Proxy

Step Two B (another variation): Download Tor & Privoxy & Vidalia bundle . IMPORTANT: Make sure you are running a antivirus program to disinfect this file. I thought this was shady the first time I did it too but I have had no problems with the bundle after it is disinfected. Look over their install page for instructions. Step Three: Download the extension "No Script"

TO SET UP PROXY

Go here: http://www.aliveproxy.com/ or to a similar site

1.) Pick out country or region you want to display from. The farther away usually the more the lag. (don't try downloading with a proxy it will take forever)

2.) Pick the proxy type that says "High anonymity" the others will work too but I am using the high anonymity so I am partial to it. (" High anonymity - HTTP Servers of this type don't send HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR, HTTP_VIA and HTTP_PROXY_CONNECTION variables. Host doesn't even know you are using proxy server an of course it doesn't know your IP address.")

3.) Now Use the "Check now" link on the far right to find an active working proxy.

4) Go to the bottom of the page and click on "Checking Proxy"

5.) Open up Fire Fox

6) Tools > options > connection settings > manual proxy configuration

7) Click on "manual proxy configuration"

8.) Copy proxy IP from the website and paste it in HTTP proxy box. (should be the first box). Then copy proxy port from the website and paste in port box. ( the one on the same line as the proxy box, directly to the right)

9.) HIT OK AND YOU ARE NOW COVERT
